In fact, if you have no craving for these foods and can do without them comfortably, you should. This is the number one thing that is often misunderstand in many of the online guides.

During phase 2 of the South Beach diet, you must be in complete control. This means that you should not continue your diet if you still have uncontrollable cravings for foods you cut during phase 1. If you experience these cravings or any other lack of self-control, you must return to Phase 1. Most cases, the initial 2 weeks of the first phase will suffice, however, some people may have to extend this period and this is good and safe.

When phase 2 of the South Beach diet begins, you should pay close attention to your cravings and the amount of food you eat that you originally cut from your diet during phase one. If you find yourself resorting to your old habits, you should immediately start your diet. The second phase should last as long as you need to reach the desired weight.
